How can I pay off a huge sum of credit card debt without ruining my future??
I am a 20-yr old student, halfway through college. When I began college, I recieved all of those "college" credit card offers mailed to my house. I made the mistake of not cutting up the cards and just threw them away and now someone in my family has used the cards to rack up between ,000-,000 of debt in my name. I do not wish to press charges on them since they are in my family, and my creditors have told me that is the only way I can claim "fraud" on the accounts.
Now I have 4 credit cards in my name that are 6 months or more overdue in payments and I only work part-time at a daycare since I am in school. My parents/relatives will not loan me the money, nor can I drop out of school to work full-time. Creditors are calling me day and night and I just do not have the money to pay off this huge debt. What is my best option? Credit counseling? Debt Management? Bancruptcy? I know there is no "ideal" option but what can I do that would cause the least harm to my credit & future?
I can only afford to pay my creditors about 0 a month total. I would like to avoid bancruptcy at all costs because my fiance and I would like to get married and have kids in the next 7 years and even though he has good credit, mine will prevent that if I declare bancruptcy.
The family member who accumulated the debt will be paying me back eventually but this might not happen for awhile.
Also, I have already spoken with my creditors, they cannot come to an affordable agreement with me.

Credit Repair – Credit Cards – Does the type of card make a difference?
I found a huge credit card directory… Does the credit card you apply for make a difference on your credit report?
If I apply for a poor credit credit card – http://www.affiliatetier.com/credit_repair/credit_cards.php – Would this effect my credit report?
If I apply for a really great credit card like American Express Blue: http://www.affiliatetier.com/credit_repair/credit_cards.php?review=23 – Would this look good on my credit report if I am approved? And would this look really bad on my report if I am denied compared to a poor credit credit card?
I have been reviewing all the credit cards: http://www.affiliatetier.com/credit_repair/credit_cards.php & found http://www.affiliatetier.com/credit_repair/credit_cards.php?review=23 to have an overall rating and benefit rating as the highest so far… I am scared to apply if I get turned down and it shows on my credit report as being turned down by a GOOD credit card…

What can you do to lower your credit card interest rate?
Several years ago I developed a chronic medical condition, lost my job & was unemployed several years. I used my savings to pay my credit cards until I missed 2 payments in a row. I contacted the credit card company, worked out a deal to pay them back.
I am now employed, current on my bills & have been for several months even though they are charging me an usurious interest rate 29.95% I believe. I have not used this card since several months before my missed payments. I contacted the card company to lower this amount but they refused.
What are my options?

"Hi, my name is (your name here). I’m a good customer, but I’ve received several offers in the mail from other companies with lower annual percentage rates. I really want a lower rate on my card. Can you help me?"
i haven’t tried it yet but i was wondering have you heard of this and tried it.

Asking for a lower credit card rate?
I have a credit card with a very high balance on it. But, I’ve been paying on it to bring it down…since we got married on 2/1 & my husband was out of work, it was just the minimum balance, but it was still getting paid.
I have a credit score of over 700.
About 2 months ago, I called up the credit card company & asked for them to lower the rate. Said I had an offer from a competing company & I would transfer if I couldn’t get it. They said "No."
I got the other account & transferred a few hundred (which really didn’t make a dent on #1). I also ended up taking money out of my 401K (I’m only 26, so there is plenty of time to build it up) & paid half of it off. There is still a high balance though. I only use it for a reoccurring charge that will be done with this month.
Would it make sense for me to try calling them again now to see if I can get the rate reduced? Now that they saw so much get paid off, they know I mean business? Or should I wait til next year & try again?
I should also mention that I’m afraid to open a new credit card because my husband and I are trying to get our inquiries down so we can get a house within 2 years…
