For credit cards, why is it harder to get over-limit penalty waived, compared to getting the late fee waived?
I have been a customer of a credit card company for many years. I have had a clean record, so the company normally waived a rare late-fee if I ever accidentally delayed my monthly payment.
Last month I got hit by an over-limit penalty because I went a couple of dollars over the credit limit. I called the company and asked for a waiver. This time it was much much harder to get the fee waived — I had to almost cancel my credit card.
I am wondering why the difference between these two types of penalties?

Who offers the best credit card?
My current credit card is charging me 23% interest because I got it back when I didn’t have much credit. Now my credit score is like 740 and my credit card company won’t work with me on their crappy interest rate so I’m trying to find a better one. I’m mainly looking for something that is accepted pretty much everywhere (I travel for work) and has the lowest possible interest rate. I guess rewards are a bonus, but I don’t care too much about that if it means a higher interest rate (which, from what I understand it usually does).
Edit: I know I should pay it in full every month, but I’ve had it for 5 years now and I always end up carrying a balance. I know it’s not the smartest way to do things, but I also know that I can mitigate some of the damage from my stupid decisions with a lower interest rate.
Also, my current credit card is payed off right now, so switching cards will be no big deal.

is it possible to use a 0% introductory APR on a credit card to purchase a short-term CD for profit?
This is what you do assuming you have good credit: apply for a high credit limit credit card (say 10K) with a 0% APR for 12 months. Once you are accepted, ask for a purchase check, write the check out to yourself for the 10K (or a little less if you want). Put the money into your checking account. Then, look in the paper, find a local bank that is offering 5% CDs 6-month term. Put the 10K in the CD. 6 months later, collect the 0 profit (minus a few small possible fees) and use the 10K principal to pay back the credit card company before the introductory 0% APR expires. Will this work, is it illegal?

Is there a company in the US that can lower all your credit cards interest rate? I just received a phone call.
I’m assuming it’s a telemarketing thing because when I picked up the phone, they told me that I’m elgible to lower all my credit cards’ interest rate to 6.9% if my debt is at least ,500. And it says to press 1 to speak with someone, or press 2 to be erased. I pressed 1 to and spoke with someone, he said he could lower ALL my credit cards interest rate to 6.9%, then he asked to "verify" my information… that’s where I became susipicious…. What do you guys think? Are there such things?
I called one of my credit card companies and they said they don’t have such affliation… and that it might be an outside markerter telecompany or some sort… should I believe this "promotion" or it’s impossible?!
Ok… so they just called be back and asked, "So what did your credit card company say about us?" I told them exactly what they told me, that they don’t have such affiliation to lower my interest rate to 6.9%. He said, "well, then how do we know how many credit cards you have, and how much debt you owe?" I said, "you didn’t, until I told you guys on the phone earlier." HE HUNG UP. HAHA

What can you do to lower your credit card interest rate?
Several years ago I developed a chronic medical condition, lost my job & was unemployed several years. I used my savings to pay my credit cards until I missed 2 payments in a row. I contacted the credit card company, worked out a deal to pay them back.
I am now employed, current on my bills & have been for several months even though they are charging me an usurious interest rate 29.95% I believe. I have not used this card since several months before my missed payments. I contacted the card company to lower this amount but they refused.
What are my options?
