Is it a wise decision to consolidate credit card debt with a personal loan?
I recently graduated college and was unemployed for several months afterward. My savings, etc, quickly ran dry, and I began carrying a credit card balance to live. I’ve begun working (finally), but my credit card balance is quite high now. The interest rates on my two cards range from 11.9% to 16.9%.
I’ve just finished paying for my car, so I now own it outright. The resale value is fairly high. I think I can get a personal loan through my bank to pay off my credit cards, especially if I use my car as collateral, at a rate of 8.9%.
I’m sure these compound differently, but I just don’t know enough about it to compare the costs. So, three questions:
1 – Would it save me money (in interest) to pay off the higher interest credit card balances with a personal loan through my bank?
2 – Is it wise to use my car as collateral?
3 – Does a personal loan "look better" on a credit report, compared to credit cards with high balances?
Thanks in advance!

Credit card offers with points?
Whenever I get credit card offers with bonus points, I open the card, purchase something small (like ), get the bonus points (towards a gift card or something), and then I never use the card again. (of course I pay it off).
Does that have any consequence on my credit history? Should I close that credit card account, since I never use it again after I get my 0 gift card
Thanks in advance.

Who is the best credit card provider for establishing new credit for someone with no credit?
I’ve been debating back and forth what companies offer the best credit card offer; but, I can’t seem to make a decision. I’m worried about high interest rates, and I would also like a little leeway in payment, i.e. no extremely high penalties for two second late payments. Also, since at this point and time "I’m in between jobs," most credit card providers always want some proof of work, though I may or may not have the funds, is there a way around this as well? I just need a credit card that has something like a 0-0 limit with some liberal attributes so I won’t have to stress over it ever billing cycle. Something to pay a high speed internet bill or gas on occassion.

And thanks in advance for considering my question.
Credit Card 0% APR Balance Question?
I recently put a charge of ,000 on my 0% APR credit card. I have thus far paid it down to ,000. The 0% rate runs out at the start of June 2008. If my balance in June isn’t entirely paid off, let’s say it’s at 0, will my 9.99% interest rate be applied to the 0 remaining balance or the starting ,000 balance?
Thanks in advance!
